Bram Houben

Bram has earned his Masters of Science in Conflict Resolution at the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University. His work as an Associate for CRDC concentrates on fundraising and engaging potential donors as well as developing educational tours to Eurasia.  Bram has organized the 2011 Caucasus Class and is currently developing the 2012 Caucasus Class with Professor Susan Allen Nan. Prior to studying at ICAR, Bram received his bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Laurea University in Helsinki, Finland. During his time in Helsinki, Bram worked extensively with recent immigrants from Southeast Asia and Somalia, helping to ease their difficult transition into Finnish culture.

Bram, a native of The Netherlands, has been deeply involved in several other projects funded by the European Union and Dutch government, specializing in human rights in both the Caucasus and Eastern Europe. Bram has also had the opportunity to live and work with disabled youth in Chile and China as well as participate in a European Union program that allowed him to spend one year in northern Sweden teaching English.

Bram is also currently involved in raising awareness of poverty in the United States. His professional background involves working with the homeless population both in Washington, DC and Utrecht, The Netherlands. He has been involved in finding long lasting solutions for homeless individuals through an outreach organization in Georgetown where his work has focused on educating the community in the District and actively engaging people who live on the streets.
